Course Objective

The objective of this course is to have the students comprehend the relationship between media and language and raise awareness on how media ideology is reflected on readers/audience. Besides, students will be familiarised with different types of media genres and the way language is used in them.

4   Identify implicit and/or explicit opinions and argumentations in media texts
5   Analyse a media text using a method of discourse analysis

2. Absence from classes will not be considered as an excuse for late submission of the homework assignments/projects and not participating in class discussions.
