Course Objective

Introducing students the missionary activities, the places of Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam in the missionary activities. To show students the relation between missionary activities and dialogue activities. To make students cognized the dialog activities and their aims. To gain knowledge about Councils of Vatican and the missionary groups faciliating in Turkey. To argue the healthy dialogue and its activities.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student will learn the missionary activities learn the positions of Islam, Judaism, Christianity toward the missionary activities.
2   The student will cognize the dialogue activities and their aim.
3   The student will be able to relate the missionary activities with dialogue activities.
4   The student will understand that the diologue is possibe because of their common motifs.
5   The student will gain the ability to look the religions objectively.
6   The student will improve healthy relations with other religions believers.

1 Importance of the course, subjects, sources Concepts of Mission, Missonary.
2 The history of missionary, its beginning, historical development and missonary in Turkey.
3 The aims of missionary, facilities, the growth of missionaries, working methods.
4 Religions and missionary, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and other religions.
5 New religions movement, missionary.
6 Islam and missionary. Missionary and Tabligh, their difference.
7 Midterm exam.
8 The decisions of the Second Council of Vatican and their relations with missonary activities.
9 The situation of dialogue between religions in history and today.The allegance between civilisations and dialogue between religions.
10 The dialogue activieties in Turkey. The institutions, individuals who participate in it.
11 Dialogue from the aspect of other religions. Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism.
12 Islam and other religions
13 The different approach to dialogue. The conditions of healthy and permanent dialogue,world peace, environmental pollution,drugs, famine etc..
14 The General evaluation of dialogue and argumentation.
