Course Objective

To provide the students to acquire knowledge of syndromal and nonsyndromal hearing loss as well as balance disorders and effects of hearing loss for language and speech development in childhood period, to acquire ability to perform objective and subjective audiological tests and design rehabilitation program of these patients.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to perform and interpret behavioral tests in the evaluation for hearing of children aged between 0-3 years and 3-6 years.
2   To be able to assess hearing with objective methods in children.
3   To be able to perform newborn hearing screening and register the screening results on newborn hearing screening programme.
4   To be able to select the most suitable hearing aids for the children diagnosed with hearing loss, to perform their hearing aid rehabilitation.
5   To be able to acquire information about syndromal and nonsyndromal hearing loss as well as balance disorders in childhood period.
6   To be able to consult families of children with hearing loss, to follow up their family training program.
