Course Objective

The course objective is to enhance the linguistic awareness and accumulation of students by improving their skills to produce oral texts and prepare them for interpreting. Students, in this direction, produce German oral texts in different types, presents while their challenges, success and alternatives are examined during the class. Various exercises geared toward to the said types are performed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gain skills to comprehend what they hear in German, to Express their feelings and opinions effectively.
2   Develop self-confidence in producing oral texts in German and in public speaking.
3   Gain skills to express their feelings and opinions effectively with current, original, audio-visual materials as well as activities of conversation, presentation, and discussions.
4   Gain awareness of perception about the different contexts of oral communication types and different language use and presentation factors according to the purpose.
5   Prepare for interpreting by enhancing their German oral skills and gain linguistic awareness.

1. LO 1-2: will be assessed with Mid-term exam , active participation and the final exam.
2. LO 3: will be assessed with the Final test.

Course Policies and Rules

1. % 70 Attendance is compulsory.
2. Non-attendance will not be considered as an excuse for late submission of homework or to be excused of presentations.
3. Attending the Mid-term exam, presentations, active participation and the final exam will be the main assessment.
4. Students are expected to make individual efforts and contribute to the work in their group activities for the class. If the lack thereof is detected, students will have no grades for presentation and active participation.
