Course Objective

This course aims to enhance skills of students to comprehend, express and interpret written sources in various text types and have students acquire reading skills for translation purpose. It is also a preparation course for interpreting courses such as sight translation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will conduct syntactic and presumptive analysis on the basis of the texts in German and comprehend the texts
2   Students will enhance their reading skills for signs, tables and graphics in German as well as texts
3   Students will be able to use skim reading techniques in both languages
4   Students will read, explain and translate various texts at a basic level
5   Students will expand their knowledge about the world as well as German and discuss cultural issues
