Course Objective

This course aims at showing students how they can adjust their listening behavior to deal with a variety of situations, types of input and listening purposes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Develop a set of listening strategies and match appropriate strategies to each listening situation.
2   Listen to the texts for the main idea and for specific details.
3   Select strategies that are appropriate to the listening task and use them interactively.
4   Activate background knowledge of the topic in order to predict the content.

The course book `Study Listening contains 2 audio CDs and cassettes. Students practice in 6 macrostrategies for listening, predicting, monitoring, responding, clarifying, inferencing and evaluating.
