Course Objective

The course objective is to acquire a linguistic view over text analysis and text production in the translation process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Differentiate language and text dimensions;
2   Use morphologic features of language in creating new terms in technics and other specific fields;
3   Analyze communication factors and functions in oral/written/audio-visual source and target texts;
4   Compare semantical analysis of oral/written/audio-visual source and target texts;
5   Use technics of linguistic and semantic shifting in oral/written/audio-visual source and target texts;
6   Analyze semiotic features of oral/written/audio-visual source and target texts;
7   Differentiate and produce figures of speech in oral/written/audio-visual source and target texts.

1. LO 1-7: 30% of assessment will be based on assignments and participation,
2. LO 1-3: Assessment will be based on questions related with theories, text comparison, analysis and production,
3. LO 4-7: Assessment will be based on same methods used in mid-term exam.
