Course Objective

The aim of the course is to introduce emergency interpreting to students who are interested, inform them about the regulations in the field and the terminology for acquiring the skills to interpret in such situations.
Another aim of the course is to raise awareness on the expected interpreter behavior in emergency interpreting.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be informed on the situations where interpreters are needed.
2   To be informed on the legal regulations on interpreting at emergency and disaster situations.
3   To be familiar with the terminology and to acquire the skill to interpret.
4   To acquire the interpreter behavior and the intercultural dimension of emergency situations.
5   To be familiar with international and national institutions.
