Course Objective

Intent of the course: Introduce to students of structure of textile fibers and yarn.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognition of textile raw materials.
2   Classification of textile raw materials.
3   Preservation of the properties of yarn production.
4   Classification of types of yarn.
5   Obtaining of yarn production according textile raw materials.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The structure and base properties of textile fibers.
2 Vegetable fibers; cotton,kapok,linen,hemp,jute,ramie.
3 Animal fibers; wool,mohair,cashmere,camelhair,alpaco,ılama,vicuna,rabbit hair,naturel silk ,spider fiber.
4 Chemical fibers; regenerated fibers,regenerated cellulose fibers,cellulose ester,regenerated protein fibers,alginate fibers,rubber.
5 Chemical fibers; synthetic fibers, polyamide ,poliester,polyvinyl fibers,polyolefin fibers,polyurethane fibers.
6 Natural inorganic fibers-Synthetic inorganic fibers.
7 Midterm Exam

9 The production of cotton yarn (carded,combed)
10 Production of woolen yarn (worsted,straygarn)
11 Linen,silk ,synthetic yarn production.
12 Spinning Machines
13 Number of single yarn counts-Twisted yarn counts.
