Course Objective

To teach the basic concepts of map. Defininiton of the use of topographic maps to make the students be able to perform it during field work.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The definiton of the basic concepts related with the map
2   Identification of the basic features of topographic maps
3   The relation of the basic operations such as scale, coordinates, height and distance calculation.
4   To be able to topographic cross-section.
5   Implementation of the topographical map to field work.

1 What is the map and what types of maps and map-related concepts and features are there.
2 Map scale, different scales of the maps, and the use of scale in practice.

Theoretical lecturing, implementation of the issues on topographic maps, class discussion and in-class workshops ; students individual work on term papers, sufficient question and answer evaluation environment, student managed learning.
