Course Objective

The course aims to provide knowledge on fresh and hardened properties of concrete, concrete strength tests, pile foundations, concrete-pile walls, field applications, encountered geotechnical application challenges in the site, instrumentation and measurement techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the material properties of concrete
2   Perform the experiments in order to obtain the fresh and hardened concrete properties
3   Describe measuring and monitoring techniques during the application of concrete pile foundation
4   Install stain-gauges on the surface of the concrete elements
5   Obtain the stress-strain relationship of steel and concrete structural elements via data acquisition systems

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course involves theoretical lecture and problem solutions related to the subject. The lecture continues in the form of mutual discussion between the lecturer and the students after introduction and basic description of the subject. Problems are given as homework for each related subject. Performing laboratory tests.
