Course Objective

Main objective of this lesson is having knowledge of basic seamanship terminology. Having knowledge of ship types and parts of ships, basic sailing training are other objectives of lecture.

1   Identifying basic seamanship terminology.
2   Understanding of historical development of marine seamanship.
3   Understanding ship types and parts of ships.
4   Commanding and controlling of sailing ships.
5   Identifying ship tonnages and other measurements.
6   Listing forms of voyages
7   Detecting and considering preventive measures which has to be taken in dangerous situations.

10 Parts of lifeboats, equipments in lifeboats and basic types
11 Rowing of small boats and rowing technics.
12 Sailing ship maneuver and handling.
13 Basic ropeworks and seamanship knots.
14 Sea perils and act of god.
