Course Objective

This course, with the help of a supervisor, will guide the students to prepare theirselves for MSc thesis or project by delving into resources and publications and to develop a research question or a research topic compatible with the current problems of the GIScience or RS. The students are expected to use their professional knowledge and generic skills (using a software, reading any kind of publication, etc.) in an efficient way.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Differentiate among MIS and MIS-related publicatons of various kinds (thesis, research paper, project, patent etc.), 2   review these publications in a general way, 3   list methods applied in MIS, 4   choose a field of interest in GIS and discuss its reasons, 5   develop a question by addressing a current problem in the subfield, 6   propose a solution strategy to the problem, 7   predict possible outcome and impact of the solution.
