Course Objective

There has been rapid increase in the number of local museums in Turkey. This course will analyse museums showing varieties in terms of their audience and collections. Type of buildings selected for these museums will be explored. The role of museums in creating identities, community conciousness and memory will be discussed. The importance of religious and ethnic heritage, their representation and impact on creating a community will be explored.
