Course Objective

This course aims at introducing the fundamental concepts of translation at the basic level. Through different practices, it aims to develop the translatorial skills of the students via examples in sentence, paragraph and text level.

1   define various terms and concepts of translation.
2   explain various resources that could be used in the translation process.
3   define and solve the problems encountered during the translation process.
4   determine the concepts such as equivalence and loss , addition or omission by analyzing translated texts.
5   discuss the translation strategies used by analyzing translated texts.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Face to face and interactive courses. Students are expected to come class having translated the texts that are assigned to them weekly and to participate in class discussions and practices. Students are also expected to submit two homeworks based on invidual research.
