Course Objective

This course focuses on political, social, economic and cultural topics. Students are expected to follow, present and discuss in class the recent developments in the fields of technology, energy, health, immigration, human rights, nuclear and biological weapons, conflicts, ideological oppositions, dynamics of the changing world, life standard, economic crisis etc.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Follow political, social, economic and cultural developments.
2   Explain their ideas publicly in a coherent and cohesive way, ask questions and discuss them accordingly.
3   Carry out a thorough research on current issues and prepare individual and group presentations.
4   Use effectively their general knowledge on current issues while dealing with problems encountered in translation process.
5   Acquire the ability to develop new questions and research areas on current issues.
