Course Objective

The aim of this internship is broaden the knowledge, skills and attitude that the students have gained in previous years in the field of surgery and have the opportunity to apply these in a clinical setting.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Take history in surgical disease
2   Perform physical examination and assess pathological signs and symptoms
3   Order necessary diagnostic examinations, interpret the results of diagnostic tests in surgical diseases
4   Manage inpatient care
5   Perform medical practical procedures necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of the patient
6   Assess surgical emergencies and perform relevant emergency care

During the internship period the assessment are based on competency and evaluated as satisfactory/not satisfactory

Article 24
(4) In the 6th year the internships are evaluated as satisfactory/not satisfactory. In order to be qualified as satisfactory he/she has to attend 90% of the related clinical and laboratory applications, complete night duties and all the other responsibilities depicted in the curriculum and have all these registered in his/her log-book. In case of failure the rotation is repeated.
