Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide the students to learn the Anatolian Seljuk State's political, economic, social and cultural history and undestand the importance and place of this state in Turkish and world history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to know the primary sources on the history of the Anatolian Seljuk State
2   To be able to sort the political history of the Anatolian Seljuk State in chronological order
3   To be able to compare Anatolian Seljuk State to other Turkish-Islamic states
4   To be able to explain the importance of Anatolian Seljuk State for Turks and World History
5   To be able to explain the role of the Anatolian Seljuk State in the establishment of Turkish-Islamic civilization in Anatolia

3 Being the capital of Iznik, the Eastern expedition of the Kutalmış oğlu Suleyman Şah and I. fetret period (1086-1092)
4 Political structure of the first Kılıç Arslan period, political policy against Byzantine and Çaka Bey
5 The first Crusade and the evaluation of the results in terms of the Seljuks, the first Kılıç Arslan's eastern campaign, II. fetret period (1107-1110)
6 Political policy against Byzantium and Crusaders during the reign of Sultan Mesud
