Course Objective

To learn the basic analog electronic circuit elements and working principles, to learn the circuit analysis methods, to learn/to apply the basic principles of digital electronic logic circuits and to learn the security precautions to be taken while working with electricity.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to know analog electronic circuit components.
2   Be able to explain the working principles of analog electronic circuit elements.
3   Be able to know basic circuit analysis methods.
4   Be able to know and apply the mathematics underlying the logic circuits
5   Be able to know the safety precautions to be observed while working with electricity.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Conductor, insulator, semiconductor; direct current, alternating current.
2 Basic measuring and the use of measuring instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, etc.)
3 Resistors
4 Series, parallel, mixed circuits and related laws (current, resistance, Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff Voltage Law, power)
5 Capacitors; coils.
6 Basic semiconductor elements; diode, transistor and other types of circuit elements
7 Basic semiconductor elements; diode, transistor and other types of circuit elements
8 General Review, Course Evaluation, Midterm Exam
9 Number systems
10 Boolean mathematics (Boolean law, Morgan theorem, Karnough map)
11 Boolean mathematics (Boolean law, Morgan theorem, Karnough map)
12 Logical gate circuits
13 Counters, digital circuit design.
14 Protection against electric accidents and first aid.
15 Final Exam
