Course Objective

To teach Ottoman Turkish alphabet. To teach Ottoman Turkish for nearly a thousand years, to provide Ottoman Turkish texts to read and write, to provide that students benefit from the works written in Ottoman Turkish.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students know The Ottoman Turkish alphabet letters, numbers and the signs.
2   They know the reading of Arabic, Persian and Turkish words.
3   They be able to read and write Ottoman Turkish texts.
4   The students can translate from Ottoman Turkish text to Turkish texts.
5   The students can analyses Ottoman written texts.

1 What is the Ottoman Turkish Letters in Ottoman Turkish
2 In the beginning, middle and end letters.
3 The rules for Vocals, konsonantlar, writing letters draw. Reading studies.
4 To read exercises 20. century Ottoman Turkish texts. Introduction to basic grammar rules
5 To read exercises 20. century Ottoman Turkish texts. Ottoman Turkish Grammar rules: etymology, structure
6 To make exercises text reading and word study. Characteristics of Turkish words.
7 To make exercises text reading and word study. Some characteristics of Arabic words.
8 General repeat, evaluation, midterm exam
9 To make exercises reading the printed text, manuscript reading. Word Studies. Writing Studies.
10 Reading and writing studies.
11 To study 19. Century Ottoman Turkish texts read.
12 To repeat the general grammar rules.
13 The characteristics Persian words in Ottoman Turkish .To make exercises to read text.
14 To study text reading .To translate from Ottoman Turkish texts to Turkish
15 Final exam
