Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to provide terms and concepts that form the basis of the
science of chemistry laboratory and the basic theories of the concepts taught in
theoretical general chemistry lectures. The main objective of this course is to gain
laboratory experience by students on the general chemistry based topic such as safety
in chemical laboratory, matter and measurement, chemical reactions, ionic bonds,
chemical reactions, Graham s Diffusion Law, classification of liquids, crystallization,
sublimation, solutions, chemical equilibrium, acid and base titration, determination of
neutralization heat by calorimeter, electrolysis, isolation of DNA.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know the safety rules and chemical hygiene in the chemistry laboratory
2   express the general planning of experiments such as periodic trends, ionic bonds,
3   express the general planning of experiments such as classification of liquids,
4   express the general planning of experiments such as chemical equilibrium, acid
5   express the general planning of experiments such as determination of
