Course Objective

This course stresses the importance of career development model, provides students with an opportunity to learn and know about oneself in order to develop a practical career plan. The course includes topics such as self-assessment, career interests, career values, work style preferences, career vision, career direction. The course is designed to help students to understand their personality types, skills, abilities, their strengths and weaknesses to develop, which in turn are used to identify areas of strength and areas to develop in their career plans.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To identify components of various career development theories and decision-making models,
2   To describe assessment instruments and their usefulness and techniques relevant to career planning, decision making, placement, follow-up, and evaluation
3   To identify career interests, career values, work style preferences
4   To develop career vision, passion and career direction-roadmap
5   To understand teamwork skills, time management and stress management skills
6   To learn and discover tools and resources for improving oneself for a better career
