Course Objective

It is aimed to give information about Turkish political culture, to show the way how to get benefit from political experiences, to get a result from decisions and applications in long process, to develop the capability of analyzing facts and events in previous and today s conditions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to determine basic historical progress in Turkish political life.
2   Being able to create a perspective for current problems of Turkish political life.
3   Being able to explain social and political developments in Turkey and world.
4   Being able to observe serious actors in Turkish political life.
5   Being able to analyse ideological differences in Turkey.

5 1950 Elections, 1954 elections, 1957 elections, Menderes Period.
6 Political Facts between 27 May 1960-25 October 1961, 1961-1965 Transition Period.
7 RPP and Worker s Party during 1960s.
8 Midterm
9 Midterm
10 NMP, JP, NOP in 1960s
11 Student Upheavals and 1971 Memorandum.
12 Political effects of economy between 1971-1973.
13 Historical and ideological progress of right and left sides in Turkey.
14 Religious right, radical nationalist right, Turk-Islam synthesis.
