Course Objective

The objective of this course is to provide knowledge that can be applied in contamination assessment studies of spills in aquifers, environmental impact assessment studies, theoretical work on specific contaminant transport mechanisms and numerical modeling of contaminant transport in aquifers.

1   To be able to explain fundamental principles of mass transport processes in groundwater
2   To be able to describe the subsurface environment
3   To be able to categorize groundwater and soil contamination sources
4   To be able to explain physico-chemical and bio-chemical transformation processes in groundwater
5   To be able to calculate groundwater contaminant arrival times
