Course Objective

This course aims at enabling the students gain the ability to use design elements and principles, ability to think abstract and the consciousness of the relationship of whole and part. In this context, the applications given within the studio focus on the concepts of pattern language such as point, line, plane, texture and volume. At the end of this course students are expected to comprehend the principles of order such as harmony, contrast, balance, symmetry, asymmetry, repetition and hegemony. Additionally, the course aims at the formation of an infrastructure that will enable the improvement of technical knowledge through the creative presentation techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, students, will be able to define the principles of design and order,
2   will be able to express the relationship of the whole and the part ,
3   will be able to illustrate the abstract thinking,
4   will be able to use the technical knowledge
5   will be able to design by using the ability of two and three dimensional perception.

2 Point and line as a technical and an abstract concept
3 Toning with different techniques and three-dimensional expression of objects,Concept of Plane.
4 Perception, Gestalt Principles
5 Elements of Basic Design and Principles of Order
6 Pattern and texture practices.
7 Basic concepts about colour, scale practices
8 Principles of order and abstraction practices through the use of colour
9 Volume and space Drawings of plan, section and view.
10 Axonometric perspective (isometric, dimetric, trimetric) practices, drawings of plan, section and view
11 Preparation for the final project, draft presentations and evaluations
12 Preparation for the final project, draft presentations and evaluations
13 Preparation for the final project, draft presentations and evaluations
14 Presentation of the final project
