Course Objective

In this course, it's aimed to comprehend the qualifications related to environment and aesthetics, to analyze the philosophical and conceptual foundations of the factors that create or influence aesthetic perception, and to compare how the built and natural environment in an individual's aesthetic response is measured in theoretical and empirical approaches via international and national literature. In addition, in order to practically observe the impact of theoretical knowledge on environmental aesthetics on designing the urban areas, it's intended to make an implementation towards the discussions held during the semester.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   will be able to define the concepts of environment and aesthetics (knowledge),
2   will be able to explain the relationship of individual and environment with all the dimensions (comprehension),
3   will be able to clarify how the individual can evaluate the environment, nature or the spatial integrity through the aesthetic perception (comprehension
4   will be able to discuss the quality of the aesthetic values created in the design of living areas (comprehension),
5   will be able to analyse the fictional quality changed via the action of designing (analysis).
