Course Objective

The objective is to provide students with knowledge on definition, characteristics and epidemiology of disasters, the impact of earthquake on public health and disaster prevention and preparedness.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to define definition, epidemiology and basic concepts of disasters
2   Ability to explain the population health effects of disasters
3   Ability to discuss public health problems and approach to these issues
4   Ability to apply rapid health assessment
5   Ability to define organisation of health services in earthquakes
6   Ability to explain preparedness in disasters
7   Ability to define disaster legislation in Turkey
