Course Objective

Enzyme activity regulation types which are of importance in terms of balance in metabolic systems occuring in cell, their mechanisms and importance will be discussed by correlating all biochemical cycles in animal, plant and bacteria samples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have a knowledge as to metabolic control theory and analysis of enzyme activity,
2   Examine scheduling in mechanisms and control steps by explaining enzyme activity regulation types,
3   Explain regulation with ligand binding and reversible covalent modification in enzyme activity,
4   Relate among and discuss intracellular signal transduction systems, signal donors and transmitters and exchangers,
5   Give examples to application areas in diseases treatment of activators and inhibitors in enzyme activity regulation by discussing their importance.

Assessment Criteria

Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term, final and resit exams, active participation to the lecture, homework.
