Course Objective

The objective of this course is to examine legal regulations, management and operations of intermediary businesses in tourism as well as their relationship with lodging businesses.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to understand basic functions of intermediary businesses.
2   To be able to grasp the concept of tour package and prepare one by organizing its elements.
3   To be able to calculate cost of tour packages
4   To be able to understand and apply other services related to intermediary businesses.
5   To be able to carry out operations between intermediary and lodging businesses.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1. Midterm Exam: Midterm exam encompasses the subjects covered in lectures as well as weekly assignments (30%).
2. Term Work: Includes research work on a subject determined at the beginning of the semester (30%).
3. Final Exam: The exam encompasses all the subjects covered through out the semester, as well as in-class discussions, applications and case studies (40%).
4. Resit: he exam encompasses all the subjects covered through out the semester, as well as in-class discussions, applications and case studies (40%).

Assessment Criteria

Exam papers will be evaluated regarding the level of understanding, as well as defining the causality between the basic concepts and issues of the lecture, ability of giving examples and analytical thought, and using relevant terminology.
