Course Objective

Studying the relationship between human rights and right to education, and the international and national basis of right to education; implementation of right to education, investigating the access to education and the causes of barriers to access to education; discrimination in education, examining the disadvantaged groups and their use of right to education; the relationship between social, cultural, economic and political factors and use of right to education; discussing equality of opportunity in education. Understanding the legal dimension of violating the use of right to education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have an opinion about human rights and the right to education.
2   Acquire knowledge about the regulations providing international basis for the right to education.
3   Familiarize with the national documents regulating the right to education.
4   Understand the access to education and the causes of barriers to access to education.
5   Evaluate the practices causing discrimination in education.
6   Acquire knowledge about the disadvantaged groups and their use of right to education.
7   Understand the relationship between social, cultural, economic and political factors and use of right to education, and the importance of equality of opportunity in education.
8   Understand the legal dimension of violating the use of right to education.
