Course Objective

1. to provide an overview of marine environmental issues and sources of marine pollution,
2. to present current marine environmental standards and requirements, especially in the context of maritime transport,
3. to provide information about nonpoint source pollution from marinas and boating and technical information about how to reduce nonpoint source pollution from marinas and boating.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   will be able to explain the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of seas and coastal areas.
2   will understand of how boating activities and marinas influence water quality and coastal environment where marinas are located.
3   will be able to identify discribe point and nonpoint source pollution from marinas and boating activities.
4   will be able to discribe current marine environmental standards and requirements.
5   will be able to understand issues about ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Menagement System.
