Course Objective

The aim of this course is to study the historical, cultural and political conditions in the Age of Enlightenment and to define the universe of meaning of the age in the context of its artistic, literary and philosophical movements.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, the student will be able; to recognize the historical and cultural conditions in the Enlightenment.
2   to compare main thought-movements in the Enlightenment.
3   to define the different periods in the Age of Enlightenment.
4   to interpret the texts in the context of the conditions in this age.
5   to distinguish the conditions initiated 19th century.
