Course Objective

The basic goal of this lecture is to understand and explain the concepts of management and human resource.

1 Recent developments in organizational studies, bureaucratic management in traditional societies.
2 Management studies in 19th century, the concept of bureaucracy in Karl Marx and Max Weber.
3 Organization studies in 20th century.
4 A general approach to organizations.
5 Organization types, their roles in society, Parsons Scott's Model
6 Technology and organization, types of technology and management structures in industrial constitutions.
7 Centralization and decentralization.
8 Institutionalization in management and institutional culture.
9 Midterm Exam
10 Myths and their roles in institutional culture, processes and values.
11 Management principles in human resources, the principle of career-equality-security.
12 Approaches to human resources management, Michigan-Harvard-Guest approaches, modern approaches.
