Course Objective

The objective of this course is to provide an introduction and overview of concepts and analytical techniques related to corporate finance, analysis of the finance functions, investments and financial decisions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the environment of business in order to understand the role of corporate finance. (Level 1).
2   Interpret the financial performance of a company through ratio analysis. (Level 2).
3   Construct pro forma financial statements and cash budgets, pointing out the usage of different financial planning methods. (Level 2).
4   Identify short-term financial management and net working capital in order to understand the related tradeoff between profitability and risk. (level 2).
5   Discuss the rights and features of common stock and bond in order to differentiate between debt and equity capital. (Level 2).
6   Apply time value techniques to different patterns of cash flows, pointing out concepts of time value of money. (Level 3).
7   Apply the basic valuation models in order to find the value of stocks and bonds (Level 3).
