Course Objective

At the end of the course, it is aimed that the student will have sufficient information about the common and economically important domestic poultry diseases such as bacterial (colibacillosis, salmonellosis, infectious coryza, mycoplasmosis etc.) viral (Marek, leukosis, smallpox, infectious laryngotracheitis, infectious bronchitis, gumboro etc.), mycotic (candidiasis, aspergillosis etc.), parasitic (coccidiosis, cryptosporidiosis, histomoniasis etc.).It is also aimed to teach the pathogenesis, macroscopic and microscopic changes with vitamin and mineral deficiencies and various intoxications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students learn the principles of disease prevention, diagnosis and control.
2   Students learn morphology, physiology, necropsy and pathological examination techniques in domestic poultry.
3   Students learn the pathogenesis, macroscopic and microscopic changes in bacterial diseases of poultry.
4   Students learn pathogenesis, macroscopic and microscopic changes in viral diseases of poultry
5   Students learn the pathogenesis, macroscopic and microscopic changes in the parasitic and mycotic diseases of poultry.
6   Students learn the pathogenesis, macroscopic and microscopic changes in nutritional, metabolic and toxic diseases of poultry.
7   Students learn the necropsy in poultry and know how to sampling and transfer the materials.

3 VIRAL DISEASES; (1/2) RNA Virus Infections, Newcastle disease, Infectious bronchitis, Avian encephalomyelitis, Gumboro disease, Reovirus infections
4 (2/2) DNA Virus Infections, Infectious Laryngotraheitis, Smallpox and Diphtheria Disease, Marek Disease, Adenovirus Infections, Egg Drop Syndrome, Infectious Anemia, Neoplastic Diseases, Other Viral Infections.
5 BACTERIAL DISEASES; (1/3) Gram Negative Bacterial Infections, Pullorum, Chicken typhoid, Paratyphoid infections, Koli infections.
6 (2/3) Gram Negative Bacterial Infections, Hen Cholera, Infectious coryza, Infectious hepatitis, Vibrionic enteritis.
7 (3/3) Gram Negative Bacterial Infections, Pseudotuberculosis, Spiroketosis, Chlamydiosis, Mycoplasma infections, Ureaplasma infections. Gram Positive Bacterial Infections, Tuberculosis, Staphylococcal infections, Streptococcal infections, Anthrax, Listeriosis, Erisipelas, Clostridial infections
