Course Objective


The aim of this course is to introduce basic painting theories and concepts, modern painting; modern and creative art works that develop the ability to create a visual language appropriate to their own tendencies by trying to perceive visual and cultural knowledge and skills that can be analyzed in terms of period, technique and content as an authentic expression tool of the painting, experimenting with different techniques and materials, .
In addition to this, students should be able to relate their work to different disciplines and to criticize interdisciplinary contemporary art practices, and to provide opportunities for students to participate in biennials, fairs, it is aimed to pay attention to taking occupational health and safety precautions in applications to be carried out within workshops. It is also aimed at students to implement exhibition methods, project process and presentation techniques and to observe visual conventions in all processes.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction to the course, knowledge of materials and introduction. Project 3 - original interpretive art work based on criticism of contemporary art practices and relations different disciplines in painting.
2 Project 1-original pictorial interpretation study and modern painting selected from art history with modern art theory and concepts period, technique and content analysis Workshop final exhibition and exhibition methods, informing about artistic presentation techniques.
3 Project 1-original pictorial interpretation study and modern painting selected from art history with modern art theory and concepts period, technique and content analysis Artistic portfolio preparation
4 Project 1-original pictorial interpretation study and modern painting selected from art history with modern art theory and concepts period, technique and content analysis Artistic portfolio preparation
5 Project 2 -Trying a different material on the painting surface together with one of the modern painting techniques and designing this material and reflecting the individual tendency by exemplifying the technique with artworks Portfolio and project presentations.
