Course Objective

The aim of this course is to give the basic subjects of linear algebra such as solutions of linear systems of equations, the concepts of matrices, determinants, vectors in n dimension and vector spaces, linear transformations and operators.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   be able to define matrices, elementary matrices and inverse of matrices.
2   be able to analyse linear systems of equations.
3   be able to apply determinant and its properties.
4   be able to understand vectors and their properties in n dimensional vector spaces.
5   be able to analyse vector spaces, subspaces, linear dependence and linear independence.
6   be able to identify whether the given transformation is linear or not.

6 Elementary Matrix Operations and Rank of a Matrix.
7 Homogeneous and non-homogeneous Linear Systems. Cramer's Rule.
8 Vector Spaces. Subspaces. Midterm Exam
9 Bases and Dimension. Coordinates.
10 Isomorphism. Linear Transformations.
11 The Algebra of Linear Transformations.
12 Representation of Transformations by Matrices. Quiz-2
13 Linear Functionals. The Double Dual.
14 The Transpose of a Linear Transformation.
