Course Objective

This course aims to provide an introduction to the strategic importance of operations and how operations can provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace, the relationship between operations and other business functions, such as marketing, finance, accounting and human resources.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts of operations and how operations can provide a competitive advantage in business enterprises.
2   Have the understanding of environmental friendly products and processes and the importance of recycling in the production process in order to gain awareness of environmental issues.
3   Demonstrate awareness of fundamental information technologies in operations management to have an understanding of the usage of information technologies in operations management
4   Work effectively as part of a team participating and interacting in the group and demostrate high written and oral communication skills in writing and presenting a report.
