Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students detailed information about planning and development issues in tourism.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have the necessary background knowledge in planning process and plan formulation to be able to comprehend national and regional tourism planning
2   Recognize theoretical approaches to tourism planning and development and the practical role of policies and policy formation in guiding tourism development to develop skills in tourism plan analysis, drafting and monitoring.
3   Explain the planning principles for different forms of tourism, different tourism resources, and different tourism facilities to be able to formulate a tourism plan.
4   Identify institutional elements of plan implementation to be able to discuss an action strategy for tourism development.
