Course Objective

It is intended to help the students to grasp the importance of the water, sound and thermal insulation for energy saving, environmental health and thermal comfort.
For this aim, fundamental heat transfer mechanisms, water vapor diffusion calculations and physical properties of the sound will be taught; water, sound and thermal insulation techniques and materials will be presented and related codes will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Grasp the importance of water, sound and thermal insulation.
2   Understand the heat transfer mechanisms.
3   Learn water vapor diffusion calculations.
4   Learn about the principles of the code TS 825.
5   Acquire basic knowledge on sound insulation and acoustics.
6   Learn about water, sound and thermal insulation materials and techniques.
