Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide the student to define and calculate lifting systems and design ability .

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of the course it is expected that the student will be able to describe a lifting system and classify for transmission materials
2   At the end of the course it is expected that the student will be able to compare lifting machines.
3   At the end of the course it is expected that the student will be able to display, calculate and draw structural parameters of different lifting systems.
4   At the end of the course it is expected that the student will be able to determination and analysis of systems for different lifting materials
5   At the end of the course it is expected that the student will be able to calculate mechanisms for analyzed lifting system.

1 General information about lifting machines and lifting systems
2 Examination of rails and wheels at lifting machines
3 Examination of load assumptions and basic principles at lifting machines calculating
4 Examination of main beam, head beam and side beam of gantry cranes
5 Examination of beam structures of gantry cranes
6 Bending stress and deflection calculation at gantry cranes
7 Examination of gantry crane
8 Examination of gantry crane connection constructions
9 Examination of pedestal cranes and cantilever cranes
10 Examination of rotating crane and rotating tower crane designs
11 Examination of climbing tower cranes
12 Examination of mobile cranes
13 Examination of floating cranes and rotating disc cranes
14 Mid-Term
