Course Objective

To understand the role mass communication in the emergence of modern societies and to understand the importance of mass communication in analysis of modern societies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to understand field and methods of the sociology of mass communication
2   to understand different mass communication theories and theoretical approches by making comparisons
3   to gain a critical perspective to analyze contemporary media industry
4   to understand the forms of production and distribution of media industry and its relationships to economic and political power
5   to understand the impacts of technologic developments of the mass communication devices to social experience of everyday social life
