Course Objective

The course aims to analyze different integration models in light of current economic developments by understanding the development, dynamics and future perspectives of economic integration within the scope of international trade theories and discussion on regionalization vs. globalization. For this purpose, the course examines the Customs Union, Common Market and Monetary Union models with theoretical background and practical examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to comprehend international integrations within the scope of the historical process of international trade and modern trade theories
2   To learn the stages of Customs Union, Common Market and Monetary Union
3   To be able to analyze economic integration models by comparative perspective
4   To be able to evaluate foreign trade policies in terms of international integrations
5   To be able to analyze the existing regional integration examples in the world

Assessment Criteria

Exams will consist two parts. The first part includes brief descriptions of the basic concepts, covered during the lectures. In the second part, there will be long-answer composition questions that will measure both the students' level of knowledge and their ability to interpret and analyze.
