Course Objective

Examination of neurobiological processes underlying psychopathology and psychopharmacological intervention. Basic psychopharmacology concepts; Neurochemical basis; Action mechanisms; Usages for the psychological disorders of psychotropic agents in the framework of various drug categories such as antidepressants, anxiolytics, antipsychotics, psychostimulants, opioid analgesics, sedative hypnotics, and hallucinogens.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to define neurobiological processes underlying psychopathology and psychopharmacological intervention
2   Be able to define basic concepts in psychopharmacology
3   Be able to define neurochemical basis of psychotropic agents
4   Be able to define action mechanisms of psychotropic agents
5   Be able to define effecs of psychotropic agents on emotions, thoughts, behavior and perseption.
6   Be able to define usages of psychotropic agents for the psychological disorders
