General Description

History

Goals:
The aim of this programme is to help prospective teachers in Religious Culture and Ethics with their trainings to be well-informed about the subject, and to provide the best suitable skills of teaching in general.
Objectives:
In this programme, the learners will get general perspectives of Teaching in Religious Culture and Ethics. By having modern understandings of teaching, they will become well educated teachers who are able to grasp about general problems and solutions in social sciences, education, social reality, and some other historical, geographical and sociological aspects of education. Also, they are expected to be a teacher that best fits in needs of our modern country and the Ministry of Turkish Education.

Specific Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements:
Students must comply with the legal and academic requirements to access the studies in The DOKUZ EYLUL UNIVERSITY according to the process established by the ÖSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Centre) regulations. Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

For students who intend to transfer to Dokuz Eylül University from universities in Turkey and in foreign countries, the articles of Regulation on the principles of student transfer between programs at associate and undergraduate degrees in higher education institutions, dual major and minor program standards and principles on credit transfers between institutions as well as the Evaluation Criteria on Student Transfer determined by Dokuz Eylül University Senate are implemented.
The vertical transfers of the graduates of Vocational Schools to undergraduate programs related to their completed programs are subject to the rules of Regulation on the continuation of the graduates of Vocational Schools and Distant Learning Programs to undergraduate programs.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all the courses in the curriculum and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 / 4.00 and 240 ECTS.
There is no final examination or examination period at the end of an academic year, or at the end of the study programme. There is, however, a final examination and examination periods, i.e., normally takes two weeks and starts immediately after at the end of each semester. Internship is not credited in the programme though it is prerequisite for the graduation. However, the competences gained and workloads needed with internship are ensured with the relevant courses content, practice and workload in the programme.

Profile of the Programme

The Teacher Education Programme in Religious Culture and Ethics aims to become a department that is in both national and international standards. It will be able to produce religious knowledge about unique and universal values of the religion, also suitable for academic principles and general needs of the society. In addition to this, it will be able to interpreted the knowledge according to Islamic values and contemporary circumstances of the age, will also transfer the psychological states of the individuals and the peace of the society to next generations effectively and truthfully; while doing this, saving the cultural and historical identity of the society with all its values, should be fully considered.
Our aim is to bring up teachers who learns the religion objectively from its essential sources; who creates original thoughts, and takes getting, applying and spreading the knowledge as main principle for him; who loves his nations, his country and humanity, and is loyal to ethical, cultural and social values; and who has all the ability of being a self-reliant teacher as having the ideal of being fruitful for the society and humanity.

1   Recognizes the information related to religious and moral and uses this information in Primary Education in Religious Culture and Ethics.
2   Defines models and solves the problems of education in the field of Primary Education in Religious Culture and Ethics.
3   Solves and designs a process according to a defined target in the field of Primary Education in Religious Culture and Ethics as an educational field s definition towards one aim, one duration analysis and designing ability.
4   Data solutions and implements a special teaching methods in the field of Primary Education in Religious Culture and Ethics, wins the sociological and psychological perspectives and reviews of social events.
5   Uses the necessary contemporary techniques and calculation tools for education practice.
6   Makes the teamwork in disciplinary and interdisciplinary in education practices.
7   Behaves independently, uses the initiative and creative exhibits behaviour in education practices.
8   Gains in life-long learning behaviour.
9   Gains in oral and written communication skills.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduated students of this department can go on their academic career, and also can work as teacher in schools of Ministry of National Education in public and private.

Access to Further Studies

Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with master and doctoral studies in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from the science of Teacher Education Programme in Religious Culture and Ethics.

Measurement and evaluation methods for each course are defined in the course syllabi prepared by the instructor/s. Exam and passings grades are regulated according to the rules and regulatons of Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Business undergraduate programs as indicated in their catalogs.
