General Description

History

Department was established under the Institute of Health Science by approval of The Council of Higher Education. Department has been carriying out teaching programs since the establishment of th Institute. MPH programmes duration is 2 years (1 year is course, 1Year is thesis study) and teachinh language is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle (Bachelors Degree) diploma, minimum score of 55 from the nation-wide Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related fields or 50 in graduate medical residency examination (TUS) , acceptable minimum score of 60 from the Foreign Language Exams (UDS/KPDS) or the equivalent exams scores obtained from TOEFL/IELTS/etc. or being successful at the foreign language examination of the Institute (minimum score of 70) and being successful at the science examination of the Institute in the related fields (minimum score of 65)

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 60 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students are required to complete 30 ECTS in each semester. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

Master of Public Health program has been established to create a learning atmosphere which enables participants to think, discuss and master to produce solutions for the problems; equips them with qualifications required tools to research, teach and work in the field of public health.

8   Capable of planning and conducting public health education and training programs.
9   Capable of using appropriate technologies and reaching out necessary and consistent resources of information.
10   Capable of taking responsibility for appraisal and lifelong learning.
11   Knows and performs ethical principles of public health.
12   Knows necessary and relevant legal principles and procedures required for public health practice.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Assessment of students will be done with 2 midterm and 1 final examinations, along with homeworks and project studies. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.
