Course Objective

In the first half of the year, the art of drama concepts are thought (genre, movement, structure of a play). Using all of those, students explore the dramaturgic work that can be done issuing a text; they apply what they have learned, discuss over research topics.

2   Being aware of a dramaturgist s missions,
3   Being aware of the main structure of a play
4   Olay dizisi, aksiyon planı, tema, motif, dramatik olay, çatışma, durum, düğüm, kriz noktaları, çözüm, final, zaman, mekan, konuşma örgüsü ve kişileştirme gibi dramatik tasarımı ilgilendiren temel kavramları özümsemiş olması,
5   Model oyunlarda uygulamalı bir şekilde yorum yapma yeteneğinin gelişmiş olması beklenir.

1 Wrap up session on previous subjects Repeating terms for theatre covered before
2 Basics of characterisation and biological & physiologic features of the character
3 Sociologic features of character, evaluation of status, education, and hobies will be held.
4 Character s psychological features will be held.
5 Function of the narrator, features shaping narrating in one person/ monological plays and narrating through dialogues in two person plays.
6 Place of the phenomenon of conflict in theatre and conditions shaping it.
7 Static constant conflict, foreseen conflict
8 One of the most popularly used conflict feature: leveled/layered conflict Example play, samples are found.

10 Contemporary look at the situation plays. Memet Baydur s play choosen as an example will be discussed
11 Intertextual plays: an example of a play bound to another shaping a new one from it.
12 An example of a modern adaptation of a known play in the name of the respect to the masters.
13 Wrap up session, on all parts covered, discussed for/minding the exam

Seconder Sources: TRY 1013 Dramaturgy 1st semester course material, and Özdemir Nutku Performing Terms Glossary as well, is suggested.
Other Materials: Examples are choosen from short and long plays linked to the concepts within the course.

With the help of the theorical information form mostly gained from Performing Terms Glossary, Kuramsal ve daha çok gösterim terimleri sözlüğü kanalıyla edindiği oyun yapısına ilişkin kuramsal bilgiyi uygulama yaparak deneyim kazandırma ve bu yolla da birçok oyun metni tanıma ve izleme olanağı kazandırmak amaçlanır.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

According to methodology, first of all the concept and then the application, later the discussion within the current time s play and meaning to the contemporary audience comes. Method should be leading to a discussion. And attendance, intepretation are important.

Assessment Criteria

As well as the midterm and final exams, it is also important how a student follows and participates within the semester. In the first grade, in a period with a high level of learning and comprehension, student must be careful about gaining a complete word set of dramam terms and notions in order not to have problems about theatral concepts. Afterwards they all should be applied to the stage play texts that are being read. Criteria, is bound to measuring the curiosity and interests that are augmented with leading the students mostly to researches.

Attendance is obliged. Students are also expected to participate in the classes. Moreover students are expected to read the play of the week in advance and participate evaluating the text within the context covered.
