Course Objective

The aim of the course is to pass the history of the acting which starts within the reign of the writer and improves with the actor s progress and acting s. The history of the actor rises on the both success on the stage and methodologically the value of the acting theory and application in the world stages.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The idea of the progress of the acting throughout the history is discussed.
2   The parallel improvement of director and the actor is held.
3   Methodologic improvement in acting is given.
4   The improvement of the stage applied terms getting into the theories is touhght.
5   Along in the history, successfull actors of the stage will be held.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Learning And Teaching Strategy is to teach the students about the historical background and then the importance of the actor, data on the stage performances, with the help of those, forther information; moreover usage of the diaries/biographies of the actors to understand the roughness of the life on stage, the level acting methods got with the help of the staging, director actor relationship and its place in acting history.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Evaluation is based on %40 Midterm, %60 Final exams and participation to
the classes.

Assessment Criteria

Main assesment criteria is the attendance to the classes. Students are responsible for topic they are given for a paper and a presentation. Visual material in the work prepared, bibliography- citation footnotes should all be clear and decent; ability to manage debates during the presentations and interpretations within the final exam are all very important. Midterm, attendance and final exam success are the core to the class.

Course Policies and Rules

Students are responsible from the main sources, and for the attendance, for preparing presentations according to the rules at the same time they should present them in seminars. The other students as the presentation goes, should interpret and attend debates parallel to the referenc books.
