Course Objective

Evaluate the interpretations, inventions in stage managing and innovations brought by contemporary directors known now, emerged after directors of epic and political theater emerged after World War II, Piscator, Brecht and Meyerhold s theater, and absurd tendencies

2   Available application examples ( photos movies)
3   Main aspects of contemporary stage directors
4   The situation of stage managing in Turkey, state of directing
5   Ability to make a general statement and evaluation about present stage managing understanding according to the latest improvements in acting systems.

1 After review of Political Theater ( Piscator Brecht Mayerhold), evaluation of how understanding of stage management shaped by absurd in first half of the 20th century so much as politics
2 Giorgio Strehler / a director on track of Brecht
3 Heiner Müller/ a director who is a successor of Brecht
4 Robert Wilson/ the importance of design for stage managing
5 Grotowski / a director whose acting method and stage managing is a lab, and his successor Thomas Richards
6 Peter Stein / a master of Çekhov and Shakespeare
7 Peter Hall / great director of the famous plays
8 Tadeus Kantor/ interesting director of Poland
9 Pina Bausch / director who does the stage managing for the dance
10 Midterm Exam
11 Thomas Ostermeier / 2012 IKSEV guest of honor, amous director of our era
12 Yuri Lubimov / Taganka Theater s founder
13 Examples of masters in Turkish Theater: Yücel Erten/Şakir Gürzumar/ Işıl Kasapoğlu/Barış Eren/Barış Erdenk/ Özdemir Nutku/ Malcolm Keith Kay etc.; in the light of the innovations made by them; a presentation work evaluating directing in Tukish Theater.
