Course Objective


The course of applied dramatugy is thought as a bridge completing the space between the modules of Introduction to Applied Stage and Applied Stage of Acting, Dramatic Writing Dramaturgy and Stage Design Main Art Branches . The course offers a point of view to the student, about the ways to stage, approaches in reading a text and choosing a text, to create a repertoire with the help of the basic knowledge on applied stage.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gaining the responsibility to widen the play selection options
2   Meeting different stage plays, texts, within different topics,
3   Building the connection between world / country journal/ daily issues and selection within the theater
4   Understanding, digesting the main principles of a production
5   Understanding the concept of regie and a director s approach towards a text,
6   Knowing the formation of a Regie concept and its significance upon the production.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Lectures: Fist the instructor provides information on what is a clasic or theoric dramaturgy and how to approach to a text. And reveals the difference between that and the applied dramaturgy.

2. Application: The instructor ask students to choose three problems or topics that are contemporary at the time. Secondly they are asked to find matching plays. They need to defence and proove the reasons why the suggested plays should be among the collected stimulative plays. The result of the suggestions are gathered on the board, three times as the student number. There held a selection among those, four plays to surveyed as to be staged.

3. Analyse, Inproving Concept / Regie: As a report, fist the students make dramatugic surveys on the plays. Then a regie concept is formed through visual material, seconder texts sources. A discussion is held about how will be the effects of the concept choosen, on the production elements such as design, acting etc. and the selection of those. Finally a production dramaturgy report is prepared.

Course Policies and Rules


1) It is required to attend %75 of the applied dramaturgy classes.
2) Every kind of plagiarism, any copied text without decent citation, is reason to disciplinary punishment.
3)Late papers, delivery after the class that was missed might be possible; but they will be evaluated only %50 points. It is significant to finish the class work or study within time given.
